House Hockey serves as the fundamental tier of hockey available in Houston, offering an equal-play format without the need for tryouts. It stands out as the most cost-effective choice, requiring minimal travel and time commitment. We highly recommend this program for families with children aged 7-14 who are new to hockey and seek an accessible and budget-friendly league.
On the other hand, Travel Hockey represents the pinnacle of hockey opportunities in Houston, featuring a non-equal play format that necessitates tryouts. This program caters to families whose players are seeking a more competitive experience, coupled with the ability to commit extra time and resources. It's ideal for players with medium-to-high skill levels. While some participants begin in House Hockey to refine their skills, transitioning to Travel Hockey is not obligatory.
The ISHL Varsity league operates as a division within the Interscholastic Hockey League, where players from Houston and San Antonio engage in varsity-style team competition, mirroring the atmosphere of school sports.
